Today, I was proud to attend the ‘Smoothie on the Go’ shop launch at Cape Town International Airport (CTIA). Teddy Luthuli, one of our determined Enterprise Development beneficiaries, is the visionary behind this growing enterprise. What started as a modest small business, borrowing smoothie blenders from friends and family, has now blossomed into a professional smoothie shop at CTIA’s Departure Terminals, a promising venture set to capture the attention of travellers from across the globe.
Smoothie On The Go’s grand opening coincided with the launch of Tourism Month at CTIA. We were privileged to have Alderman James Vos (Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth), Mark Maclean (Regional General Manager – CTIA Cluster), Enver Duminy (CEO of Cape Town Tourism), and Yolisa Mlawuti (ACSA’s Assistant General Manager for Commercial & Regional Integration) join the ceremony.
Teddy shared her journey and aspirations with confidence and charisma while unveiling Smoothie On The Go’s new, professional logo. The TrioPlus team is immensely proud of Teddy and her remarkable progress.
In 2018, Smoothie On The Go started with Teddy’s entrepreneurial vision and passion for promoting healthy living. In 2022, the business reached a turning point through the Godisa programme, proudly facilitated by TrioPlus and funded by De Beers. This five-month growth-focused programme provides structured content, personalised mentoring, and seed capital. It covers essential aspects of business expansion: growth goals, opportunity scanning, decision-making, innovation, systems for sustainability, accountability, and action.
Teddy recognises the importance of networking and actively nurtures relationships, seeks advice, and appreciates the wisdom she gains. Still, she is equally dedicated to giving back to her contacts and community. In Teddy’s own words, “My dream is to watch my business grow and be able to share part of it with people who would benefit from learning from it, with the hope of having them adopt the culture and apply it in various aspects of life.” Her words embody what TrioPlus stands for: sustainable ESD – empowering individuals to achieve success and pay it forward, inspiring others.
Today’s grand opening is a milestone, not just for Teddy but also for TrioPlus. I’m very proud of Stephanie Roodt, Jade Wheelock, and our dedicated ED team. We’re honoured to have been a part of Teddy’s journey. May she continue to be a source of inspiration to everyone she meets.
After the ceremony, my colleagues and I indulged in some of their smoothies, which were delicious, healthy, and truly unique. So, the next time you find yourself at CTIA, pop in for a dose of fresh inspiration at “Smoothie On The Go” (located next to Terminal A11).
