In Kathu, two entrepreneurs crossed paths through a TrioPlus Enterprise Development programme, each bringing a distinct skillset and a shared drive to build something greater.

André Jacobs, a qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technician, and Selaiman Ocks, an experienced welding specialist, met during the programme and quickly recognised the strength in combining their expertise. What began as a connection within a structured development environment soon evolved into a strategic partnership, leading to the establishment of Red Earth NDT.
Their collaboration reflects one of the most powerful outcomes of effective Enterprise Development: not only strengthening individual businesses, but enabling meaningful partnerships that unlock new opportunities.

From the outset, André and Selaiman approached their business with both humility and sharp business acumen. Through the TrioPlus programme, they gained practical knowledge in financial management, operational discipline, and strategic thinking, which became the foundation for their growth.

Their progress has been nothing short of remarkable.

Since launching Red Earth NDT, the business has experienced rapid expansion, successfully entering a highly competitive mining sector and competing alongside established suppliers. Their ability to deliver quality work, combined with a disciplined approach to business operations, has enabled them to secure larger contracts and grow their workforce.
Today, Red Earth NDT stands as a strong example of how targeted enterprise development, combined with the right mindset, can translate into sustainable business success.

Reflecting on the journey, Selaiman shares:

“When I was selected for the programme, I initially thought it was about funding. While the funding helped, the knowledge I gained was far more valuable. The financial training made a real difference, and the way the sessions were delivered made me want to learn more. Seven months ago, my business was declining and I had no work. Today, I have more work than I can describe, purely because of what I learned. Thank you.”

This story is a testament to the role that structured support, practical training, and intentional collaboration can play in building resilient, growth-focused businesses.

Through partnerships like this, TrioPlus continues to drive meaningful impact, supporting entrepreneurs not only to grow individually, but to build businesses that contribute to stronger, more inclusive local economies.
