Suraya Petersen Williams, founder of DESIGN26 FOUNDATION NPO/PBO in Mitchell’s Plain, is a powerful example of purpose-driven entrepreneurship.

Suraya was recently recognised as a Warrior Woman Award winner by Good Hope FM, followed by a feature on the SABC3 Expresso Show the following week. These milestones highlight not only her business success but also her growing influence as a community leader.

DESIGN26 produces high-quality, purpose-led everyday apparel for the whole family, along with custom clothing solutions featuring premium printing and embroidery. At the heart of the brand is a strong social mission: creating opportunity, dignity, and skills development through sustainable enterprise.

Suraya completed the TrioPlus Business Growth Programme in partnership with De Beers in August. During this period, she demonstrated strong leadership, consistency, and a clear vision for long-term impact. It was a privilege for our team to mentor her as she strengthened both her business foundations and her growth strategy.

Building on this momentum, Suraya has recently purchased land in Mitchell’s Plain and is raising funds to establish a sewing-skills incubation hub. This initiative aims to equip local community members with practical skills, opening pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.

Suraya’s journey reflects the kind of impact that is possible when resilience, vision, and the right support come together. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing her impact continue to grow.
