Sehlukaniso (Pty) Ltd
Renico Theron
TrioPlus Director and CFO
One tends to visualise “professionals” wearing corporate clothing and sitting around a large desk in a state-of-the-art facility with WiFi, backup power, and break-away rooms. Right? Yes, maybe, but not always in the case of rural development.
In these photos, you’ll catch a glimpse of what mentoring rural entrepreneurs often looks like. Siya Phakathi, a TrioPlus Business Developer, is meeting with Nonkululeko Zimba, one of our Sappi Enterprise Development beneficiaries. She owns Sehlukaniso (Pty) Ltd, which manufactures building blocks in Mpumalanga.
Like many entrepreneurs, Nonkululeko is juggling business and personal life. They’re not sitting in a plush office but in an open field on empty paint containers. Although her company doesn’t yet have a delivery vehicle or shelter for equipment, she is working hard on her dream. What a beautiful testament to her dedication and the determination of our team members as they go the extra mile to support each of our entrepreneurs in their unique circumstances.
Under TrioPlus’s guidance, Nonkululeko’s business experienced an increase in sales and orders in April. We’re also guiding Nonkululeko in implementing sound financial systems and effective marketing strategies, aiming for continued progress in the months ahead. These actions are all integrated and tailored to the business level and are fit for purpose.
We’re grateful for our partnership with Sappi, which enables us to mentor entrepreneurs like Nonkululeko and draw inspiration from her remarkable journey. I hope that her story inspires you today. Don’t wait for conditions to be perfect to take action and follow your dreams.
